So after a month or so of riding and trying different seat positions, my wife an I decided that laying back as much as possible is the most comfortable for us. Unfortunately this meant sore necks! A headrest was in order, but the TerraTrike headrest is $149. So after watching a video on YouTube, I figured I could do the same thing.
Using 3/4″ PVC conduit (gray), and 3/4″ schedule 40 fittings (white), along with water pipe insulation, worm gear host clamps, I was able to make these 2 headrests for less then $20, including the can of black paint I bought, but haven’t used yet. This saved me over $280!
- 2- 15″ pieces of conduit
- 1- 12″ piece of conduit
- 2- 2″ pieces of conduit
- 2- 3″ pieces of conduit
- 2- 45 degree elbows
- 2- 90 degree elbows
- Pipe insulation
Now just add the pipe insulation for cushioning, and you are ready to mount on your seat frame.
That should do it until I’m ready to paint when the weather is a bit better for painting outside.
Some notes I would like to add…
I used the two 45 degree elbows with a 2″ piece of conduit to I would have room to mount a tail light.
